Payroll is Essential for Ensuring Positive Employee Experience
Despite being a fundamental human resources (HR) function, the importance of payroll is often overlooked. This oversight oftentimes results in late or inaccurate paychecks. In fact, according to our recent survey of 1,000+ employees, 25% say their company frequently makes errors related to payroll and timekeeping.
Employers are not only legally required to ensure their workers are compensated accurately and on-time, but smart ones also recognize that payroll is essential for ensuring positive employee experience (EX).
Dignified Home Care Services, a Right at Home franchise in Wisconsin, is one of those employers.
As Right at Home Milwaukee Waukesha, they provide in-home assistance for seniors and adults with disabilities. They pride themselves on providing exceptional care by tailoring their approach to suit their clients’ needs, whether that be at home, in an independent or assisted living community, or elsewhere. Dignified Home Care Services also strives to create exceptional experiences for their 50, primarily part-time employees, and understands that payroll is part of it.

A 96% Reduction in Payroll Processing Time
Processing payroll with their previous provider, ADP, was time-consuming and cumbersome. They sought an alternative solution that would integrate with their current human resources information system (HRIS) and found that in isolved. This integration enables a seamless upload of employee information from the HRIS into isolved to simplify payroll processing.
Payroll processing was a painful process for Tanya Maldonado, HR and payroll manager. "Payroll was an extremely intensive manual process," said Maldonado. "It took a lot of time and we had errors. I thought, there has to be a better solution."
With ADP, it took Maldonado several days to process payroll. It was common for paychecks to have erroneous pay amounts. Some employees were underpaid, while others received an overpayment that had to be adjusted on the next paycheck.
With isolved, Maldonado can complete the entire payroll run in less than one hour—a 96% reduction in payroll processing time. She can now focus on:
Planning schedules for clients and caregivers
Connecting with employees
Updating the employee handbook
Working on a rewards and recognition program
These efforts help Maldonado improve EX and employee retention.
In addition to the shortened time to process payroll, the pay period was shortened to weekly, and errors were eliminated. "I don't remember the last time we had an error on payroll," said Maldonado.
isolved’s payroll features include:
Full payroll preview, alerting of errors prior to processing
Ability to add other platforms for a single system
Employee self-service
Managed wage garnishments
Managed payroll tax filing
Multi-layered security
Enthusiastic Employee Experiences
While the potential savings in time and money are impressive, Maldonado says being able to seamlessly transition from biweekly to weekly payroll was the true indicator of success. “Our employees were asking for the switch in payroll frequency. Being able to fulfill that request with no issues wouldn’t have been possible without isolved.”
The employees also appreciate the self-service technology. With it, they can view and print check stubs and W-2s without relying on Maldonado and her team. Maldonado says these changes are helping satisfy her vision of creating “enthusiastic employee experiences.”
She recently rolled out isolved Onboard & Develop and a handful of employees have been onboarded using this solution. One employee shared that it has been "so easy." With onboarding materials stored as electronic documents in the platform, paper processing has been eliminated. However, Maldonado notes that if they ever need to print a document, they can simply retrieve it from isolved.

“I would always recommend isolved to others," she added. "In addition to the products and services you provide, the customer service is top notch. Every single time I call, everyone is so helpful. They're very knowledgeable, they're very supportive. I don't remember this level of support from a customer service team ever."
