Put the Human Back in HR
Posted: 06/30/26

Think about what your HR team actually does in a given week. How much of their days are spent doing the work they got into HR to do, like hiring great people, supporting employees and building a culture, and how much is just keeping up?
Many HR teams spend their time chasing data across systems, tracking compliance updates, answering employee questions and running payroll while hoping for a clean run.
That’s not why they got into the HR field. And if you’re a small business owner wearing the HR hat yourself, you definitely didn’t start a company to spend your Fridays reconciling payroll.
The problem with the state of HR work isn’t your people. The problem is that HR software has spent years asking people to do more — when it should have been doing more for them.
Complexity Is Real and Compounding
Running a business right now is genuinely hard. Businesses are contending with rising costs, expanding compliance and a battle for top talent. And through it all, your HR team — whether it’s one person or twenty — is expected to keep pace.
When AI first arrived, most HR software vendors asked the same question: How do we help HR manage more? Nobody asked the better one: How do we free HR to do more?
That’s the question isolved is building around. We’re not building more features to learn—we’re building a platform that handles the administrative work of HR so your team doesn’t have to.
The AI Agents HR Needs
There’s a lot of noise right now about AI in HR software. Most of it amounts to smarter search or a more conversational dashboard. These are tools that surface information faster but still leave the work on your plate.
isolved partnered with Anthropic because we wanted AI that could actually finish the job — not just assist with tasks. Anthropic’s platform is built for AI agents that take autonomous, end-to-end action, which means the agents inside isolved don’t wait for someone to follow up. They handle the task, flag what matters and move on. For a small HR team, that’s the difference between a tool that helps and a platform that works.
The result is something genuinely new: AI that doesn’t ask more of your team. It asks more of itself.
Meet the AI Agents Working Alongside Your Team
We’re launching six AI agents to handle the work that doesn’t need a human, so your team can focus on the work that does.
Here’s a look at our first six agents.
The Guardian: Freedom from payroll anxiety. This agent monitors every payroll run and every transaction in real time. Anomalies, like a deduction spike or an hours outlier, will get flagged before the run closes. Errors will be caught every time, automatically. The HR leader who used to spend Friday afternoons hoping for a clean payroll run gets a fresh start to their weekend.
The Helper: The answer to your employees’ questions. Employees have a lot of questions, like “How much PTO do I have left?” and “Where’s my W-2?”. And those questions take up a lot of HR’s time: 48% of HR leaders spend four or more hours a day answering repetitive questions. The Helper answers them instantly, around the clock and can pull documents directly on behalf of your team. Every question it answers is one less interruption in your HR leader’s day.
The Orchestrator: Onboarding with your best foot forward. Let’s say a new employee starts on Monday. There are dozens of things that need to happen before they walk in the door: system access, paperwork, benefits enrollment, equipment setup and team introductions. The Orchestrator handles every step, coordinates every system, and makes sure nothing falls through the cracks. Every new hire feels like their arrival was expected — because it was.
The Advisor: A better approach to open enrollment. Open enrollment is one of the most stressful times of year for a small HR team. And employees feel it too — 70% of employees describe the process as stressful. The Advisor guides every employee through their options with personalized recommendations based on their specific situation. The Advisor provides real guidance tailored to every employee’s needs.
The Signal: Keep your best people. Imagine that your strongest employee has been quiet for three weeks. Their engagement is slipping. Their manager hasn’t noticed yet, but The Signal has. This agent surfaces retention risk early and puts a recommended action in the manager’s hands the same day. The Signal addresses retention concerns before your top performer freshens up their resume.
The Watchdog: Compliance without the commotion. Every HR team has been there: a wage law just changed in two of the states where you have employees. And then a new leave requirement goes into effect next quarter. The Watchdog catches, flags and notifies you about changes before it becomes a problem. No more discovering compliance gaps after the fact.
At the end of the day, these agents aren’t here to replace your HR team. They’re here so your HR team can finally do the job they were hired to do.
And because these agents are taking real action inside your business, you need to know exactly what they’re doing — and always remain in the driver’s seat. That’s something we built in from the start.
You’re Always in Control
Every agent comes with a dashboard so you can see exactly what it’s doing. You’ll be able to see what The Guardian caught this week, how many questions The Helper resolved and what risks The Signal surfaced.
And you stay in control. You can pause any agent, adjust its permissions, reassign ownership or export a full audit log at any time. Think of it the way you’d think about any member of your team: they have a role, a performance record and accountability built in.
That’s the standard we’re building. AI that works hard and reports to human beings.
What This Means for Your Business
If you run a small or mid-size business, you’ve probably felt the gap widening between what you’re being asked to manage and what your tools can actually handle. There are more compliance requirements, more complexity and more employees who need HR guidance than ever before.
That gap is what isolved is closing. Not by giving your HR team more to learn, but by building a platform that carries more of the weight.
When payroll runs clean every time, Friday afternoons feel lighter. When every new hire has a smooth first week, retention numbers look better. When your employees can get answers to their questions at 10pm without calling HR, your team starts Monday morning fresher.
I’ve spent my career building HR software. The thing that drives me is the HR leader who got into this field to make a real difference for people — and spends most of their day doing everything but that. This is our answer to that problem. And we’re just getting started.
