Local Quick Service Restaurant Improves Employee Benefits with isolved 401(k)

Quick service restaurant, JumBurrito, serves authentic and fresh Mexican food throughout west Texas. With six locations in two cities and a tortilla and sauce factory, they stay busy. Family owned and operated for over 40 years, JumBurrito treats all their employees as if they’re a part of that family. But with a growing business, it was hard for them to keep up with the needs of 135 employees.

According to Lacey Davidson, Human Resources Manager at JumBurrito, “We processed payroll and benefits in house for years. After the ACA requirements took effect, we did not have the software to be able to track eligibility and that’s when we decided to look for outside help.” They turned to a software for 401(k) and to track eligibility. The software had a broad range of features and services but wasn’t streamlined for payroll and benefits. Needing something more efficient, they searched for better.

The Search for a Better Solution

When they were finally introduced to isolved, they were pleasantly surprised. “We really liked the support the salesperson gave us. We had a lot of questions and they walked us through the entire process. The price was also very competitive.” It’s been a smooth, stress-free transition and has given them more time to focus on their restaurants.

In fact, it’s estimated that isolved’s simplified compliance reporting will save JumBurrito $35,900 over a three-year period. Additionally, should they run into an issue or have questions, customer support is there to help. Davidson says, “I really like the reports and how I can customize them to show me pretty much any information needed. isolved has a great support staff and I’m able to call and get help immediately.”

JumBurrito wanted all their employees to have access to their information and benefits at any time. With Employee Self Service, employees can see their hire date and they know when they’re eligible for insurance, 401(k) or vacation. Davidson says, “The self-service portal lets employees see all we have to offer, and they can see our matching contributions. The Year End summaries allow them to also see other benefits like free employee meals, employer paid taxes and 401(k) contribution.”

Making a Difference in Employees’ Lives

Seeing how isolved was able to make a difference in one employee’s life was important. One of their long-term employees had been contributing to their 401(k) for years. They didn’t have access to a computer at home and because their previous provider didn’t send out quarterly summaries by mail, they were unable to access their account or see their balance. They were surprised when they were finally able to see how much they had contributed each week and that JumBurrito had matched it dollar for dollar.  Davidson says, “I showed them how to see year-to-date the amount on their last paycheck and they were blown away by the amount they were saving annually. When we logged onto their account, they almost cried knowing they had savings for retirement.” This employee now has access to the app directly on their phone, allowing them to see weekly paychecks and exactly where their money goes. It’s these small things that make the biggest difference.
